Message from Head of School & Head of Operations:
Dear TUSKERS's families,
What a brilliant week at school this week! Things have been buzzing with enthusiasm and positivity here at BISB.
At BASIS, students and safety are our first priority, therefore we have a few reminders below;
- At Drop Off Area: We would like to ask for your collaboration to AVOID having a discussion or a natter during a morning drop off time at the pull-through areas as we aim to minimize the traffic during a rush hour and also would help our students to start their first period on time.
- No Snack or Food from home: Please allow us to reinforce as part of the effort to improve children's health and wellness, we kindly ask parents not to bring home snacks to school. This home snack restriction has been applied across a school to reduce a risk for students, especially students with allergies condition. We are seeking your collaboration to make our wider community safe.
This week we had a few amazing highlights, the Elective Showcase on Wednesday was in school performance which shown a wide array of outstanding rock band, music and drama performances. We are so proud of all the performers and reminded of how talented and creative our students are. The Kinder Filed Trip today was absolutely joyful and our tiny TUSKERS visited Moori Moori Playfarm to learn about the value of farming and experiencing first-hand the production of food from "Farm to Table" This trip brings and embrace our tiny TUSKERS with the knowledge based on school subjects in Science, Math, Language Arts and Nutrition to life through engaged hands-on activities. Thank you, all teachers, families and staff, for being a part of our students' exposure to the bigger world.
Next to this, our College Counseling and Academic Team are preparing a roadmap that visualizes pathways for students who are interested to enroll in top universities in Thailand. A clear roadmap would be disseminated out to Middle School and High School families within the next couple weeks, at which point we will setup another session with our families to take them through it and explain all the components.
Last but not least, we would like to give you more details about the American Mathematic Olympiad as the competition was held in our school early this month. Now, all answer papers have been shipped to the US, and the result will be likely announced during 1st week of February 2024. Please stay tuned on this newsletter, we will keep you posted when we have got further information in no time.
Best regards,
Dr. W. and Ms. Kwan
Head of School and Head of Operations

Early Years Newsletter:
Message from Director of Early Years:
Dear Families,
We are enjoying our time reflecting on the progress your students have made in Trimester 1. Reports will be shared with you on December 1st and following that we will hold parent-teacher conferences. Next week, look for information from your child’s teacher regarding signing up for a conference time slot. In the meantime, we are hard at work preparing for our EY Christmas musical, A Snowman at Sunset.
November and December are months to focus on GRATITUDE. One way to think about Gratitude is “choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and our happiness. With that, I appreciate you, our parents and families, for your involvement, your help and your positivity.
Sincerely,
Ms. Annie Fletcher
Director of Early Years
Primary, Middle & High School Newsletter:
Message from Dean of Primary:
Dear Parents,
Just a friendly reminder, to keep students safe while at school. Please be sure that if you are sending medication to school with your child, it is clearly labeled with instructions on dosage, with student name and class. Please leave any medication with the school nurse, including over-the-counter prescriptions.
It is dangerous for students to keep the medication with them, in their lockers, or in backpacks, should it fall into the wrong hands and be accidentally taken. Thank you for following the school safety protocol.
Sincerely,
Dean Selby
Dean of Primary School

Library Corner:
BISB Library presents the Book Discovery Challenge!
Explore the beauty of our natural world through books and celebrate Nonfiction November! Over the next few months in the library, the library will focus on themes of discovery and exploration. Students in PreK 2 all the way to Grade 5 will be encouraged to read and explore nonfiction works focusing on Earth Science and Earth exploration.
In library class, PreK 2 and Kinder students will explore a new topic each week, earning a Class Discovery Badge. These badges can be seen in the library on the Explorer board!
For students in Grades 1 – 5, they are encouraged to take the Book Discovery Challenge on their own!
How does the challenge work?
Students will be offered a Book Discovery Book in the library, and be asked to read 10 nonfiction books covering the following topics:
- Mountains and Volcanoes
- Trees and Plants
- Dinosaurs and Fossils
- Outer Space
- Animals
- Explorers and Scientists
- Habitats
- In the Ocean
- Insects and Bugs
- One book of their own choice (must be nonfiction and approved by the librarian)
For every nonfiction book a student reads, they will earn a badge for their Discovery Book. Once students complete the challenge and have earned all ten badges, they can show Ms. Erika for a prize and for house points! Students can keep their Book Discovery Books once completed.
Please note, if a student reads a book that is not a BISB Library book, they must get it approved by Ms. Erika. Additionally, if a student loses their Book Discovery book, they will not get a new one and cannot restart the challenge. Encourage your readers to keep their books with their CJs!
Parents can join in too!
Parents are encouraged to participate in the Book Discovery Challenge, especially those with students in our Early Years program!
If you would like to do the Book Discovery Challenge with your readers, stop by the library before or after school during scheduled library hours to pick up your Discovery Book and to check out nonfiction books.
Happy reading and happy exploring!
Ms. Erika
Librarian
