Important Updates from Head of School & Head of Operations:
Dear TUSKERS Families,
We wanted to take a moment to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of our swim team students on their outstanding performance at the Swim Meet last Saturday. The dedication and hard work displayed by our TUSKERS were truly commendable, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Well done! A special thanks goes out to our swim coaches for their contributions and you all as parents/guardians for your continuous support. These contributions are invaluable to this team's success.
Furthermore, We want to express my appreciation to the students who sent their VDO auditions for the A.T.O.D International Dance Competition. Your talent and effort are greatly valued, and we wish you the best of luck in the competition. We will announce to the students who has been selected from this audition to be school representatives.
Additionally, we would like to extend our thanks to Middle School’s parents who attended the Drop-In Session for the Residential Trip with Environmental Education Centre Thailand (EEC). Your active involvement in your child's talent is truly inspiring, and we appreciate your continued support.
Moreover, we would like to express our gratitude to the Parents Representatives on their presence in the Parent Association Meeting today. Your participation and support in nurturing the school community is a great role model for our TUSKERS.
Last but least, I hope all of you who attended the Kindergarten Around the World Expo today had a wonderful time. The event was a great opportunity for our kindergartners to showcase their learning and creativity, and we hope you thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Early Years Newsletter:
Message from Director of Early Years:
Dear Families,
We have some exciting events on the horizon! The firefighters will be coming to visit Early Years on Friday,October 27th and Halloween will be celebrated on Tuesday,October 31st .
For the Firefighter Day, you are welcome to send your child to school in a firefighter outfit, if you have one. Please do your best to be on time for school as the fire trucks will be blocking the driveway as soon as our school day begins. The first demonstration is at 8:40 a.m.
As you prepare for Halloween, please note that no guns or weapons are allowed at school. If a weapon is part of your child’s costume, please keep that part at home. We will have a parade in the morning and we would love it if you can join us! Parents will be admitted through the front of the school beginning at 9:10 a.m. Our parade is on the field and you will be able to view from the bleachers. If your child would like some extra support during the parade, you are welcome to join them along the route. There will be an opportunity for photos afterwards. All Early Years students will return to the classrooms at 10:00 so that the Primary Parade may begin. We do have a full day of school on Halloween with some fun activities in the afternoon too. It may be helpful for teachers if you provide a sack for treats that your child collects that day. Please look out for more information from your child’s teachers regarding Halloween classroom activities.
Please remember to connect with your child’s teachers if your child is out sick. If there is an extended absence the teachers will communicate with you as to how best distribute lessons and materials so that there is not a learning loss. We do need doctor’s notes for extended absences.
Finally, a THANK YOU to the parents that connected with me about sharing their career with students at BASIS. These kinds of collaborations make my heart sing. You get to share what path your education took and spark ideas in the minds of our students. This applies to students younger and older. You never know what impact you will have on a child. If you are interested, please- let me know. If your career is more suitable to share with the upper years students at BASIS, I will happily be the liaison to making that connection.
Have a joyful break with your family and I will see you on October 24th
Sincerely,
Ms. Annie Fletcher

Message from Deans:
Hello Parents,
As a member of our BISB community, we are trying to support good behavior through positive reinforcement. This method of behavior management is proven to be highly effective. Teachers have been excellent at going over the different TUSKERS characteristics with the students and awarding them TUSKERS cards.
When a student is "caught being a TUSKER", standing out as a Thinker, Unique, Supportive, Kind, Exceptional, Respectful, or Sincere, they will be awarded with a TUSKERS card. The TUSKERS Card will be filled out thoroughly by the instructor, giving specific details as to why the student deserves a TUSKERS button. The student will present the TUSKERS card to Dean Selby or Dean Drew and get awarded the TUSKERS button that matches the characteristic in which they were awarded a card. The students will also be awarded House Points on Class Dojo for their great behavior.
The Deans will keep track of all TUSKERS Awards given out in a Trimester Log. If a student gets an award for a characteristic more than once, they may give it to their parents to keep on their lanyards. Students who have received buttons will be recorded to teachers, to be eligible for the TUSKERS Awards, each trimester. If a student collects all the buttons to spell TUSKERS by the end of the year, they will receive a grand prize of a pizza and ice cream lunch with Dr. W! We have been enjoying the enthusiasm so far from students, staff, and parents, over the TUSKERS Cards and Buttons 🙂
Best of luck collecting them all!
Dean Drew and Dean Selby
