Important Updates from Head of School & Head of Operations:
Dear BASIS Families,
It was lovely to end the week with our lovely Literacy Day today, it was an amazing success to celebrate our community with love and passions of literacy and books. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we do. Another important event we did this week is we successfully conducted a Fire Drill on Wednesday for all students. Well done to our TUSKERS for following the safety protocols diligently.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you about a few important matters.
1. Food/Snack Policy: To ensure the safety and health of our children, kindly remember that students are not allowed to bring outside food/snacks to school during school day including ECA and/or Teacher/Student Led Clubs.
2. Pick-Up Locations during Dismissals: Early Years students should only be picked up from the Early Years gate. However, if a child has siblings in Primary and Upper School, parents can pick them up from the Primary Gate.
3. Timely Drop Off and Pick-Up: It is crucial for all students, from Early Years to High School, to be dropped off before the start of their first class. This ensures they do not miss any important lessons and begin their day without anxiety. We encourage parents to adhere to this practice as it contributes to a healthy learning routine.
4. Early Dismissals: We kindly request that parents provide advanced notices for any mid-day pick-ups, except in the case of emergencies. The mid-day pick-ups must be at the end of each period as this is to avoid the learning disruption.
5. Food Delivery: After school, if parents would like to order food and being delivered to school, please be ensure to pick up your own delivery. Please do not ask school staff to pick up the food or pass the food to students. This allows our school staff to focus on their duties and minimizes duties disruptions.
Thank you for your attention to these reminders. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe and productive school environment for our students.

Early Years Newsletter:
Message from Director of Early Years:
Hello Early Years Families,
We held a school-wide fire drill this week which included the alarms. Our students were able to remain calm and follow the directions of the adults. I believe our previous practice prepared us well for this larger event.
Field Trips: As mentioned previously, we are busily doing the preparations for our field trips. Here are a couple of items to be aware of that are in place to keep everyone safe and ensure a successful day of off-campus learning for all.
- If your child does not attend a school-sanctioned field trip, you will need to arrange to keep your child home. There is no extra person available to supervise children whose classes are gone off campus.
- All school approved chaperones must ride the school provided transportation with the students and teachers. Chaperones will be assigned a group of students to be responsible for which includes supervision on the ride to and from the destination.
- No additional siblings or adults may attend.
- All children must return to BASIS and be checked out to parents from the BASIS campus.
- If your child arrives late to school and the classes have already left for the field trip, you will need to keep your child with you for the day. Again-there are no extra teachers to supervise.
Swimming: I am still witnessing too many students who are not dressed for swimming. It is safer for everyone if all students are in the pool attending the lessons. If your child is not swimming for a medical reason, please submit the paperwork to reception and inform your child’s teachers. If you have forgotten to send swimming supplies with your child, you may drop them off at reception after the school day has started. It is even better if you simply send the supplies on Monday and we store them until swimming day. Swimming is part of our curriculum. It is being assessed and progress towards mastery of skills will be documented on the report card.
Library: The book bags (PK1-K) are to be used every week for library. Please remember to return the books and bags to school so your child can safely carry their books to and from the classroom and library. Your teacher will inform you which day is library day. Please feel free to utilize the QR codes below to access additional literacy materials.

Primary, Middle & High School Newsletter:
Message from Director of Primary & Upper School:
Dear Parents,
Homework is an integral part of the BASIS curriculum because it has many positive outcomes. It provides practice on concepts taught in class, reinforces organizational skills, and establishes good study habits that will serve your child in the future. As a parent, you are encouraged to ensure that your child completes their homework regularly and returns it to school on time.
Should your child not understand a homework assignment, please communicate this with their teacher through an email, or your child’s CJ. Teachers will take the time to explain tasks and reteach concepts whenever necessary. Moreover, teachers want to be alerted when your child struggles, as this enables them to address your child’s needs at the outset.
Showing interest in your child’s homework reinforces the importance of education and academic success. Please help us help your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. Ruth
Director of Primary and Upper School
Message from Deans:
Dear Parents,
Progress reports are going home today. Please take the time to note your child’s grades and the category totals for each subject, as these will give strong indicators as to the areas your child may need to improve in order to bring up their overall grade for that subject.
If you have a concern about your child’s progress or progress report, please contact your child’s SET for that subject directly, as this teacher will be able to give you the most in-depth and accurate information about your child’s progress and learning needs.
Please also keep an eye out for emails inviting your child to student hours, as whenever a student drops below 70% in a core subject, they are required to attend the student hours for that subject until further notice.
Best wishes and thank you for your support,
Dean Drew and Dean Selby
Dean of Upper School and Dean of Primary School
Library Corner:
Hello from BISB Library!
Literacy Day 2023 was an amazing success! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our school’s love of books and literature than with a colorful celebration like today’s event. We had such a wide variety of wonderful, creative costumes among our students and our teachers. Students in all grades had a blast walking the runway and showing off their fantastic genre-themed costumes.
Thank you to all of the students who dressed up and a big thank you to the parents who helped design unique costumes to get their students runway ready!
Lastly, thank you to everyone who attended the after school Early Years storytime and crafting. I hope you enjoyed the stories and making the book-themed crafts with your book-loving TUSKERS.
You all made this years Literacy Day one to remember! Please enjoy the collection of photos from the days event below – and look for more photos of the day’s events on the library’s display television.
Thank you and happy reading,
Ms. Erika

Dear TUSKERS Families,
After the eight hours (until week 4) of Intensive Training for different Sports Academies, we have started the ball rolling to give exposure to the world of Sports Competitions.
Before I update you, let me commend your unwavering support which is the backbone of our students' success, and we are grateful for your continued encouragement.
Please see below the upcoming events for the month of October 2023:
As we gear up for the exciting events next month, we wanted to provide you with some important information, particularly regarding sports jerseys:
- Two Sets of Jerseys: Each student will be required to have two sets of jerseys – one for home games and the other for away games.
- Old Jerseys: For those students who already have TUSKERS jerseys from previous seasons, these will be designated for use during home games. We encourage everyone to take good care of their existing jerseys.
- New Jerseys on Order: We are pleased to announce that new jerseys are already in the process of being ordered. These new jerseys will be reserved for away games, allowing us to proudly represent TUSKERS in the competitions.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that our athletes are properly equipped and ready to excel in the upcoming competitions. Let's continue to show our TUSKERS spirit and support our student athletes on their journey to victory!
