Early Years Newsletter:
Message from Director of Early Years:
Hello Early Years Families,
Good News! You have been asking how to spend time on campus after the school day ends. We are now giving parents and children access to the large canteen, gym, primary playground and sports field Monday-Thursday 4-6pm. In addition, the library is open for families Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 3:15-5:00 and before school every day 7:30-8:00. Please remember that the children are in your care at these times, there is no additional supervision.
Please don’t forget to send your child’s swim gear to school. You are welcome to send it on Monday, that way we have it for swim day and the routine becomes set. Swimming is a part of our curriculum and I like to see all students participating. If a child is not participating, there should be a medical note on file with reception and communicated with the teachers.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, we expect students to be entered into the Early Years gates by 8:30am. Habitual late arrivals will cause children to miss the first lessons of the day and send a message that school is not valuable. The messages we give our children now carry with them throughout their lives. It is my expectation that teachers begin teaching right away so please join me in making it a routine that students are starting their school day on time too.
On Literacy Day, September 29, the afternoon story time and arts and crafts will be at the main library on the 2nd floor. We will definitely take pictures of the morning Runway Fashion Show and share these with you. Dressing up is optional. If your child does not wish to dress up, that is perfectly ok.
Thank you to all our BASIS students for the thoughtful honoring of Wai Kru. This is a very special and unique experience to me and yet another reason I am happy to be your Director of Early Years.
Ms. Annie Fletcher
