Security Review
Dear BASIS Families,
As part of our periodic security review and in support of our growing community, we engaged Clearpath EPM (Emergency Planning Management) www.clearpathepm.com to help ensure our school adheres to the highest international standards for safety and security. This organization is responsible for conducting safety and security audits at many prominent International Schools around the world, including in Thailand, and is considered a leader in the Emergency Planning Management industry.
This past week we hosted the Clearpath team as they conducted a Comprehensive Risk Audit and Assessment covering the BASIS Campus, Policies & Procedures. While they identified no significant gaps at this time, Clearpath shared some best practices that we will seek to implement on our campus in the coming months.
We kindly ask for your cooperation as we seek to maintain the highest international standard for Safety and Security on our campus. We will keep you informed if there are any items pertinent to you or your children and also send periodic reminders with the intention of maintaining these high standards.
Safety is our utmost priority and we thank you for your cooperation with these matters.
Sincerely,
BISB Management
Message from Mr. Jason
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As a school, BASIS International Bangkok is exceptionally proud of our student's achievements inside and outside of school. Many of our students participate in competitions outside school and achieve extraordinary results. That is why we would like to be able to capture this information to celebrate the children's successes and also encourage others to join. As our school community grows, we are looking for new ways to support students with their passions and help them achieve excellent results outside school.
Please use the link below to tell us all the fantastic results your child has received.
https://forms.gle/3qCvo21bAsTc2uFL9
We have also compiled several competitions happening outside of school that your child can register individually to compete. Please feel free to register for yourselves and let us know so you can represent our school. As a school, we will also encourage group applications for competitions happening online or in person in Thailand or abroad. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions about the competitions.
Dear BASIS Parents,
To further enhance our offerings and support our community, the school has added a Tao-bin machine in front of the Main Canteen. While we have made efforts to reduce the amount of sugar and ensure there are no harmful products for sale, some of these drinks do contain sugar and caffeine. Please note that students are not allowed to purchase caffeinated drinks on campus.
***Please speak with your children about making healthful decisions with regards to the frequency and types of drinks they choose.***
In addition to Coffee and Tea, the machine has several non-caffeinated options available, such as Milk drinks, Protein Shakes, and Fruit Smoothies. Customers may also choose to adjust their sugar levels from between 25% and 100%.
Only Primary and Middle School students, parents, teachers and staff are allowed to access the machine. Early Years students can access this with parents in the evening time after school.
Our teachers discuss nutrition and how to make wise choices and will continue to do so at school. We encourage you to do the same at home.
Best regards,
BISB Management
Save the Date: Expert Talk with Dr. A "How to Handle Teenage Behavior"
Friday, February 24th at 08.30 to 10.00 in the blackbox theater. The session is most suitable for parents of grade 5 and above, but is open to the whole community.
Middle School Independent Arts, Music, & Sports Initiative
Dear Parents and BISB Community,
We are very pleased to announce that beginning shortly after pre-comps, BASIS Bangkok will begin the IAMS (Independent Arts Music Sports) initiative. Up to three days a week, students will be able to use their afternoon Academic Enrichment period to autonomously pursue their interests in Art, Music, Dance, Drama or Sports. They may work individually or in small groups towards a goal of their choosing.
Examples of this may include:
- Forming a band
- A dance troupe
- Individually practicing and producing art and multimedia
- Extra practice for a school sports team
Students can also choose to work towards a bigger goal, such as participation in the upcoming talent show BISB’s Got Talent. They may also begin to accumulate material for an Arts or Music portfolio which will help them when applying for universities in the future.
Most importantly, we want to provide the students with more time to enjoy the things they love, and this is part of larger ongoing commitment to put the wellbeing and happiness of our student population at the forefront of our concern as a school.
We hope that parents will encourage their children to sign up, and look forward to providing more information about IAMS very soon.
Sincerely,
Mr. Andrew Taylor
Dean of Upper School
