AQI Policy Reminder
Dear Tusker Families,
At BISB, we take the health of your children very seriously. Therefore, we do follow our AQI policy strictly. Please refer the AQI Policy here. When the AQI is high, we move our Sports Program activities inside.
The activities will always continue to run, and there is a huge benefit to attending every practice.
Kindest regards,
BISB Management
Message from the Librarian
Hello from the library!
I want to take a moment to thank all of the primary parents who attended my morning coffee hour on January 28th and I hope you found the information helpful for both you and your readers at home.
For parents who missed the conversation, please feel free to stop by the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, or Wednesdays before school to discuss how to help your readers and how to access the digital tools shared.
At the coffee hour, I discussed the library’s digital took Destiny Discover – where you can request library books for pick up for both you and your child. Any parents that would like to put books on hold to checkout from the library, you can access the library catalogue using the following link:

FEBRUARY – FOR THE LOVE OF READING:
The month of February will be a busy time for us in the Library, as it is our schools For the Love of Reading month. We have interactive displays and reading challenges for students, and we will also have lots of activities, competitions, and book lover events!
COMPETITIONS:
Firstly, I am holding a book cover design competition open to all grades 1 – 8! The book, Imaginary Fred has somehow lost its originally cover and it is up to students to design a new one!
The wonderful Ms. Heather is assisting with the Grade 3 - 5 students in her art classes this week. The book can be found in her classroom, and after this week it will be available for students to read/look through in the library.
The paper, set to a specific size for the competition, will also be in the library and students are welcome to come by throughout the month to pick it up.
Students are encouraged to design their own unique cover for the book using any medium of their choosing: paint, collage, drawing, etc! The competition is open until February 28th and students can submit their final designs to me in person.
The first place winner will get their cover design on the book in the library, in addition to a certificate and a cash prize of 1,000 baht! Second and third place will also get certificate and prizes. Each submitted cover will be displayed in the library for everyone to see!
Also, during the February break, students are encouraged to take and send in photos of them reading in exciting, silly, and fun places – these will be in the newsletter and on the library TV for other students to see and enjoy.
EVENTS:
Lastly, at the end of the month, I will also be hosting free book binding events for grades 1 – 3 and another for 4 – 8. This will be held in the library Connections space -- stay tuned for the finalized dates/times.
Happy Reading! ❤
Ms. Erika
Save the Date: Expert Talk with Dr. A "How to Handle Teenage Behavior"

Middle School Independent Arts, Music, & Sports Initiative
Dear Parents and BISB Community,
We are very pleased to announce that beginning shortly after pre-comps, BASIS Bangkok will begin the IAMS (Independent Arts Music Sports) initiative. Up to three days a week, students will be able to use their afternoon Academic Enrichment period to autonomously pursue their interests in Art, Music, Dance, Drama or Sports. They may work individually or in small groups towards a goal of their choosing.
Examples of this may include:
- Forming a band
- A dance troupe
- Individually practicing and producing art and multimedia
- Extra practice for a school sports team
Students can also choose to work towards a bigger goal, such as participation in the upcoming talent show BISB’s Got Talent. They may also begin to accumulate material for an Arts or Music portfolio which will help them when applying for universities in the future.
Most importantly, we want to provide the students with more time to enjoy the things they love, and this is part of larger ongoing commitment to put the wellbeing and happiness of our student population at the forefront of our concern as a school.
We hope that parents will encourage their children to sign up, and look forward to providing more information about IAMS very soon.
Sincerely,
Mr. Andrew Taylor
Dean of Upper School
