Note on Revised COVID Guidelines
Dear Parents,
The number of COVID cases in Thailand is surging again and we have decided to continue with the current facemask policy for indoor spaces at this time, as we wish to keep the community safe. Masks are required for indoor and optional for outdoor spaces within campus. After we have consulted with Health Office and our risk management team, ATK testing is not required prior to entering the campus unless that person has recently suffered from Covid - in normal circumstances, we will not ask students, parents nor staff to undertake an ATK test until further notice. We request your co-operation in informing the school should your child be tested positive or at risk so we can take all necessary measures to mitigate the risk to our community.
Best regards,
BISB Management
Reminder: T1 ECA's & Student Hours
Term One ECA activities will come to a close this week. Please remember to collect your child at the normal dismissal time next week. Additionally, there will be no scheduled student hours next week, as we wind down to the New Year's holiday period.
Please note: After school sessions of Optional Mandarin will continue as normal next week.
Introducing the BISB Literary Magazine!
We are looking for submissions to include in BISB’s first-ever literary magazine!
What is a literary magazine?
Literary magazines are periodicals that are devoted entirely to creative writing and art. Publications can be found in schools, universities, and online, which are then available for the community to read and enjoy.
Who can submit to BISB’s literary magazine?
Students in grades 3 to 8 may submit their written work and/or digital art for our first edition.
What kind of work can be submitted?
We are looking for works of both fiction and nonfiction, short stories, interviews, poetry, autobiographical accounts, digital art, and photography.
How are submissions chosen, and how will students know if their work will be included?
The BISB Editorial Committee will accept and review student submissions. A note will be sent home in your child’s CJ indicating if their work was selected. Students may submit multiple pieces to the committee.
When will the publication become available?
This year, we aim to publish the inaugural edition of the literary magazine in May or June of 2023. A notice wi be sent home in the form of a newsletter as we approach the publication date.
Additional information or questions?
Students and parents may contact Ms. Renee O’Brien at r.obrien@basis.ac.th to inquire about the submission process and deadlines. Students may submit their work to Miss Edna in room 3102 and Miss Erika in the library as well.
Students are encouraged to submit writing or art they have already created. The following themes may also be used to jumpstart the creative process:
- Theme 1 - Gratitude: Submissions are due by December 15th
- Theme 2 - Love: Submissions are due by February 28th
- Theme 3 - Transformation: Submissions are due by April 21st
We hope to read our amazing Tuskers’ work soon!

Important Reminder for Bringing Special Treats to Campus
Just a friendly reminder of our BISB snack policy, in order to protect students with food allergies and dietary restrictions. Please follow the protocol below when sending birthday or special treats to school:
Instructions:
- You may send a request to bring the snack to the classroom teacher via email and you must specify the ingredients – with especial emphasis on nuts or their derivatives.
- Teachers must examine the feedback from point 1 – the ingredients of the treats and assess whether there is anything unsuitable for the students in class – if not, they may say the treat is, sadly, unacceptable as it compromises our health and safety guidelines.
- Please make sure the treats arrive in a sealed container and are convenient for each child to consume individually. You may need to supply paper plates and associated cutlery.
- These special treats may be served only during recess time: 9:20-9:40 am and lunch times: 11:30-12:15 pm.
- Please ensure that any involved teachers are aware of the arrangement beforehand.
- Please drop said treats at the School Reception and the latter need to be labelled with the appropriate student’s name & class.
- If you have any doubts – reach out to your classroom teacher.
Also, a reminder that if you send additional snacks to school with your child at any time, your child should not be sharing snacks amongst other students, as there could be allergies and dietary restrictions. Thank you for supporting us and enforcing this safety rule for our students!
The "Giving Tree" Project
Dear Families
As Christmas is nearly upon us, we are teaching our students about the importance of gratitude, appreciation, and kindness to others in and around our community. Therefore, BASIS International School Bangkok will join The 'Foundation for Children' in a Christmas project called 'The Giving Tree.' This project seeks to donate gifts to less fortunate children in our community, so we can share the joy of Christmas and teach our students about the importance of charity and kindness. The foundation has asked for new gifts only, due to Covid-related protocols. If you would like to donate a gift to the 'Foundation for Children' please follow the instructions on the leaflet for more information on how to submit your gift. All donations are welcome. Thank you so much for your assistance.
If you have further enquiries, please contact school staff at +662 415 0099 or line official at @bisb
Policy Regarding the Use of Electronic Devices
Dear Parents,
To ensure the best learning environment for all students, BASIS administration reminds parents that their children will not be permitted to have the following items during the academic day:
- Cell Phones/Electronic Devices
- Pomo or Smart Watches
- Toys
- Hand Sanitizer (without prior approval)
Students wishing to bring these items to school must keep them in their lockers until after dismissal. Items discovered in class or elsewhere during the school day will be confiscated by their teacher and returned to the student at the teacher’s discretion.
BASIS prides itself on providing an enriched learning environment, safe from unnecessary distractions. Please ensure that your child/ren are aware of this policy.
As always, thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Ms. Ruth
Director of Student Affairs
