We look forward to welcoming our Early Years students back on Monday, 12 September safe & healthy. As always, thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Your continued support will help keep our community healthy and reduce the risk of infection for all of our children.
KEY FACTS ABOUT RSV
RSV is spread by respiratory droplets either directly through the air, or indirectly by hands, tissues, or items put in the mouth (toys, eating utensils, cups, etc.). If your child exhibits any symptoms of RSV contact your health care provider and keep them home to protect the rest of the community since RSV is high infectious.
The progress of the virus is usually 3-8 days. Symptoms in the first 1-2 day(s) can be very light.
The symptoms from RSV are commonly cold/flu-like but can lead to long hospitalization if not detected and the child does not get proper rest and care early. Coughing, sneezing and runny nose, usually accompanied by fever, is common in the later duration of the virus, but fever does not always occur. Other symptoms are:
- Panting, feeling of exertion
- Fast and heavy breathing
- Irregular breathing
- Greenish or discoloring complexion (could be slight)
- Irregular sound from lung.
- Thicken sputum
- Wet cough.
Once contracted, the symptoms might not show right away and even if you go see the doctor, the test might not yet reveal a positive result. When and if you bring your child to see the doctor, please make sure you give detailed information of the symptoms (what and when) and what medicine has been given to the child.
A period of observation is always needed for proper diagnosis. If you are not sure/certain, please keep your child at home for a few days and take your child to see the doctor if needed. Please always ask for medical certificate to either certify that your child does not have RSV, or to confirm it and give a date for when your child can return to school. Keep in mind that if your child is weak, he/she is likely to catch something else so it’s a good idea to wait until your child is healthy to school. Please submit a copy of your child's medical certificate upon return
For more information please see details of RSV on CDC Website below.

Student Hours
Dear Parents,
Due to conflicts in scheduling, Student Hours have been reorganized. In order accommodate all subject areas in every grade, the majority of Student Hours have been reduced to thirty minutes in length.
Student Hours for Grade 1 to 5 now run from 3:30 to 4:00 and from 4:00 to 4:30 pm.
Student Hours for Grade 6 to 8 run from 3.45 to 4.15 and from 4.15 to 4.45 pm.
If your child has Student Hour from 3:30 to 4:00, please make sure your child is picked up at 4:00. Those children who begin their Student Hour at 4:00, will participate in a study hall in the canteen, which will be supervised by monitors. These children should be picked up promptly by 4:30. Please note that Student Hours are by invitation only, as teachers must accommodate those children who require the greatest assistance first.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that the interests of our students are first and foremost, and changes made to the Student Hour schedule reflect our commitment to this.
Sincerely,
Ms. Ruth
Director of Student Affairs
