Message from the Head of School
Dearest All!
An unusually short message for the close of the week!
It has been a very busy week – you will see from the pictures of the various events… But – a joyful week! I write this whilst simultaneously getting feedback from teachers on the Kinder field trip – the children are on the bus and frothy with excitement! Lovely to hear.
Please do read carefully about the impending events, as there are soooooo many that have been incorporated in these last very few weeks.
Moms and dads of our grades 6 and 7 babes – please don’t add any further stress regarding comp. exams! Show upbeat interest in what the children are doing; encourage they stick to a plan for revision; feed them well; and incentivize their efforts in advance of the examinations.
It’s a long weekend, courtesy of H.M. Queen’s birthday – I sincerely hope you have a beautiful weekend.
With love, Alan.
Optional Chinese Langauage Program, 2022-2023
We would like to thank the parents who have been in touch regarding their observations of the changes to our Optional Mandarin Language Program moving forward. We believe the offer we have now allows children to participate in quality Chinese lessons whilst not compromising their academic ability in other curriculum areas nor of attending a range of ECAs and student hours.
The details of the Optional Chinese Language Program for 2022-2023 are as follows:
Grades 1 - 3 will enjoy 5 x 20 minute classes each week during the normal school day, with one additional 60 minute lesson each week after school.
Grades 4 & 5 will undertake 3 x 30 minute classes each week, these occuring within the normal school day, with one additional 60 minute lesson after school.
The fee for the Optional Mandarin Program for grades 1 - 5 will be 25,000 THB per semester, and 40,000 THB per year.
Grades 6 - 8 will undertake Chinese language and Culture in their elective lessons, these being 3 x 50 minute lessons per week. We encourage these students to maintain their studies over the period of grades 6 to 8 in order to successfully undertake both HSK and AP examinations – the latter being a college-level course that will help in any applications to a university in the future. There will be no additional cost for these lessons.

Comp Exam Q&A with BASIS Hangzhou
A big thank you to students for participating in the BISB Comp Q&A with BASIS International School Hangzhou on Wednesday. It was superb to see such interest and aspiration from our students to ask such important questions from their peers experiencing BASIS student life in China. The responses to the questions posed by students have been uploaded in to Schoology so students can access them any time.
The students have been working very hard reviewing and teachers have been supporting them with their study guides and reviewing in classes. Please encourage your child to use these combined with the study skills strategies that they have learned to help prepare them for their exams.
Last month, Mr. Alan mentioned in his Coffee Morning for Comps, that is important to take a break from studying and enjoy family time too. This is really important and will help relieve some of the stress that comes with exams.
Finally, thank you once again for your support, if you have any questions or need any information, please contact the subject teacher, myself or any other member of the admin team so we can assist you. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a pleasant and relaxing three-day weekend.
Many thanks,
Mr. Andy
