BISB Weekly Update - May 20th, 2022
Message from the Head of School
Dear All!
It was lovely to see a cross-section of parents for Toby’s coffee morning on Thursday, whilst I sincerely hope that the subsequent Chinese meeting illustrated that we are able to sympathetically incorporate much of the Chinese curriculum within the normal working day. If your babe does Chinese, I trust you have seen the email on this matter that was sent post the meeting – I would love to think we can conclude the reorganisation of Chinese lessons in order that we have a learning model that will be robust over years to come!
And some notes for the coming week:
The official line on Covid regulations continues to be relaxed… Please note that if we have a single case of Covid in a class, that class will remain open. Whilst if there is a second case in that class within 5 days, we will then close the class for 3 days. I think it will, nevertheless, be important to inform parents of any case we are aware of affecting a particular class, as I suspect some parents will wish to make their own decision about whether or not they continue to send their babe into school in these circumstances.
Let’s continue to keep our guard up and protect our community – so, if you have doubts about contact with Covid sufferers, please do keep us informed or your babe at home as is appropriate.
In case you were unable to come listen to Toby Walker on Thursday – there is a video that you can watch! The link is in the newsletter.
We are trying to arrange field trips for classes – as we have not been able to undertake these for such a long time. Look out for communications from the teachers about these. AND… PreK1 babes are on the first trip next Friday!
Two dates for your diaries Early Years mommies and daddies: Early Year Performance “Little Grouchy Lady Bugs” on Wednesday 15 OR Thursday 16 June at 09.30 – 10.30 hrs & Kinder Graduation on Thursday 23 June at 09.00 – 10.30 hrs.
We have recently seen some incredibly talented pianists at our musical recitals. The fabulous Colin has or is informing interested families of a piano competition to happen soon in Bangkok – if you have a child who would like to participate, I am sure Colin would be very happy to hear from and advise you!
Just a little reminder for moms and dads of grades 6 and 7 babes – check in with the boys and girls about the impending comprehensive examinations – help them to be organised and maybe just listen to any concerns they have. If there are particular worries, feel free to reach out to the teacher concerned.
We are all fallible whatever age we are! It is OK to mess up; it simply has to be – and an apology is worth more than gold. Modelling these things sets babes up for success!
Alan.
Further Alteration of Covid Protocols
The school is altering our covid protocols once again to align with local regulations and to prepare our community for the return of normality very soon – please see the attached file below. Nevertheless, we continue to do more than what is required in the interest of community safety. The primary change from next week onwards is as follows:
In the event of a single identified covid case, the classroom of said case will remain open and will be disinfected. If there are two or more positive cases in the affected class within 5 days and there is a concern for in-school transmission, the class will be move to Online Learning for a period of three days, or as determined by the school administration.
