Message from the Head of School
Dear All! It has been a lovely week in school - the weather has cooled (so wonderful for the northern European male (-; ) - the Christmas tree is decorated and standing tall and proud in our reception; we have finished the week on a high with all the awards our babies have earned being celebrated. So! I would draw your attention to the following:
Monday is a holiday - NO SCHOOL!
Chinese - we were attempting to facilitate change in terms of the provision this year - but, to date, families appear to want leave things the way they are this year. However - we certainly do want to attempt to have Chinese lessons in the normal school day from the start of the next academic year.
LOVELY to see Kinder mummies and daddies for coffee this week. Next week we will be seeing parents of Grade 3 on Tuesday; Grade 2 on Wednesday; Grade 1 on Thursday! Busy week for coffee mornings in school!
Screen time for children - I see some tired children in the mornings! I would suggest keeping an eye on this situation at home and put some limits on the amount of time that children are on screens!
I wrote to all parents regarding not reaching out to fellow parents if your babe suggests they have had an issue with another child in school. Please, please - always use us to deal with any problems between children in school.
Bullying - sadly, this is an issue that never appears to go away in any school... We have talked to all the children about what bullying is - and it is not an isolated incident of unpleasantness between children... If children think they are being bullied, we want them to be empowered to call it out - and teachers will always take such a matter seriously when children bring it to their attention. Bullying is horrible. Upsettingly, most bullies were bullied themselves - speak to your babies about this - and never allow them to feel victimised.
Have a beautiful and balmy weekend, with love,
Alan.

Save the Date: Early Years Christmas Bazaar - December 17th, 2021
It's the most wonderful time of the year... Early Years Families, save the date for our Christmas Bazaar on Friday 17 December, starting at 11:00 am. Because of Covid protocols, it has been so long since we have been able to have community events on campus, so we are thrilled to be able to celebrate together with fun games, holiday treats, and exchanging small gifts before we all head off for our extended Christmas holidays. Your teachers will send you an email with more detailed information, but we wanted to give you a heads up so you can plan.
Kinder Parents, as Ms. V and Ms. W told you at the coffee morning, next week KBr invite you for a tour of our aquarium. Meanwhile, KCl will be have a special, one day only Sushi shop. We hope to see you, and look forward to existing families and new families getting to know each other.
Kindness Drive: Donations for Families in Need
Dear Parents,
We are helping the people of Bangkok who were affected by the pandemic by donating toiletries to them. To help us, please let your child bring toiletries, such as shampoo, soap, toothbrush, and other things used in the bathroom by December 15th to the cafe. Help us share kindness with the Bangkok community.
Thank you!

Monthly Community RDF Drive-Thru
BASIS International School Bangkok is proud to support our local RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) Drive-Thru event. This event is to be held on the second Saturday of each month at the “East Park” Parking Lot in Soi Rama 2-56 (across from Park Village).
We are happy to announce that the two collections in October and November yielded 5,780 kilograms and 4,030 kilograms of non-recyclable materials, respectively. This will help reduce land-fill and create final use for this waste.
Next event date : Saturday December 11th.
As our community is coming together for the greater purpose of helping to save our environment, we’d like to encourage BISB families to participate in this activity!
