Message from the School:
Dear BASIS Families,
First and foremost, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our talented students, dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and hardworking staff for making BASIS ARTFINITY such a meaningful success. This event truly showcased the spirit and excellence of our TUSKERS. We are especially proud of our AP Art students and teacher, whose passion for the arts continues to inspire and impress us.
Thanks to this overwhelming support, EmDistrict has invited us to extend the exhibition! BASIS ARTFINITY will move to EmSphere starting tomorrow, May 3, and will be on display until May 7. We warmly invite you to visit our students’ outstanding work in this exciting new space. Let’s continue to share the joy of creativity and the strength of our community!

This week, we also celebrated the dedication of our Grade 6 Drama Elective students, who performed in our very first drama production, “This Murder Was Staged.” After months of preparation, the students delivered an impressive performance, with a small cast skillfully portraying multiple characters in a two-hour show. Their courage, and energy on stage were truly inspiring.
This experience helped our students develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, and confidence. A heartfelt thank you to our drama teachers, Mr, Kari-Noor and Ms. Annerique, and everyone who supported the production, your encouragement created a space where our students could shine.
To all who attended the show, thank you for supporting our students. Your presence meant so much and your generosity made an even greater impact. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Community Children Foundation (CCF) under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Thank you for being part of our community and for supporting our students in every way.
Warm regards,
BASIS International School Bangkok

📣 Morning Arrival Reminder: Help Your Child Start the Day Strong!
Dear Families,
We’d like to remind you of the importance of a prompt start to each school day. Early Years Morning Circle begins at 8:25 AM, and all students are expected to be going to their classrooms by 8:30 AM.
The first few minutes of the day are essential for your child’s success. This is a time when students:
- Mentally prepare for the day by reviewing the schedule
- Practice conversation skills through sharing activities
- Participate in social-emotional learning lessons
- Engage in foundational skills like math, grammar, spelling, and writing
Each classroom uses this time a bit differently, but all are focused on creating a calm, connected, and purposeful start to the day.
Please help us make the most of this valuable learning time by ensuring your child arrives at school no later than 8:30 AM.
Thank you for your support in building strong routines and setting your child up for a successful day of learning!

Message from Director of Primary and Upper School
Dear Primary and Upper School Families,
We would like to share with you the annual BISB Field Trip Schedule. The Middle School students were fortunate to travel to Rayong in September 2024 for their Residential Trip. Due to unfortunate circumstances in October, the Ministry of Education paused school field trips thereafter. This affected the planning and scheduling of field trips for Early Years and Primary School for the academic year 2024-2025.
We have looked at alternatives that align with the temperature and climate and offered a Grade 4 and 5 Sleepover which was very successful. During Project Week in June, Primary and Upper School students will have many opportunities for participation in interactive projects and activities. There are also several trips offered for Upper School students during Project Week.
In the academic year 2025-2026, we will resume our scheduled field trips for the Grade levels 1 to Grade 11. Kindly refer to the table below for the initial plans. We will await further information from the Thai Ministry of Education to determine our ability to go on field trips in the Early Years.

Best regards,
Ms. Allison

🌊 TUSKERS Swim Update – Making Waves! 🐘
It’s been an exciting month in the pool for our TUSKERS! We’re thrilled to announce that our swimmers have successfully completed their Swim England Awards, demonstrating fantastic progress and dedication. 🏅 Certificates will be distributed next week—well done, swimmers!
This month also saw our students rise to the challenge in our long-distance swim event, aiming to complete as many 25-meter laps as possible in 20–25 minutes based on grade level.
A big congratulations to Mutmee (Grade 4) and Poon (Grade 7) for leading the way with the most laps completed—your endurance is truly inspiring!
What’s coming up in the pool?
- 💫 Artistic Swimming Performances: Students will present their creative and synchronized 1-minute group routines.
- 🏊♀️ Bangkok Prep Bulldog Dash: Our Swim Team will dive into competition mode at this exciting meet—cheer them on!
- ⏱️ Swim Time Trials: Students will challenge themselves across distances from 25m to 500m, including the 100m and 200m Individual Medleys.
Every splash, stroke, and smile reflect the hard work and spirit of our TUSKERS. Keep pushing forward, stay strong, and GO TUSKERS! 🐘💪

Library Corner
Hello from BISB Library!
To start, thank you so much for your patience and understanding regarding the library closures this week. Moving forward, the library will be open for its normal operating hours throughout the month of May.
This week, the library continued its exploration of endangered creatures, focusing on honeybees and the importance of pollination. In Early Years, we read Bee Dance by Rick Chrustowski and learned how to do the “waggle dance,” a unique movement that forager bees use to tell others in their hive where food (nectar) can be found. For primary, we read These Bees Count! By Alison Formento and Sarah Snow, a story about pollination and the honey collecting process. To wrap up our bee-loving week, students were invited to the library during lunch/recess on Friday to create their own unique bee-themed bracelets. We had so much fun! Check out the pictures and their designs in the photos below.

Secondly, I am so excited to invite parents to join this month’s parent-teacher book club, The Page Turners! This is a free book club gathering open to parents, teachers, and staff to encourage a love of reading and build community. We will read Kristin Hannah's novel, The Women, a work of historical fiction set during the Vietnam-American War. Our meeting will be on Friday, May 30th from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Connections, with light refreshments provided. Please read the book in its entirety before the event. I have copies available in the Library for check out, and the book can also be purchased through Kinokuniya, Asia Books, or on Shopee. To register, please use this link: https://forms.gle/7pXDWKF62WQDYRqr5 - I hope to see you there!
Lastly, I wanted to share the schedule for library and textbook returns, as well as upcoming library closures for the remainder of the year. Please refer to the schedule below and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Summer library hours will be shared in next week's newsletter!
Upcoming return dates/closures:
May 26th - 30th - All library books to be returned, no checkouts for students or parents
June 2nd - 3rd - School closed for holidays
June 4th - All textbooks to be returned
June 4th - 6th - Library closed for inventory [space available for reading only]
June 9th - 13th - Project week, book checkout for summer begins after school Tuesday to Friday
Thank you and happy reading,
Ms. Erika
Librarian
