Message from the School:
Dear BASIS Families,
Happy Songkran Holiday!
What an incredible week it has been! We are so grateful to everyone who took part our activity and event.
On Wednesday, we hosted a football showdown between our parents and teachers. On the field, both teams showcased impressive teamwork and sportsmanship. Off the field, the friendship was a beautiful reminder of what makes our BASIS community so special. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents and teachers who participated and cheered!

Yesterday, our talented students lit up the stage during the Upper School BASIS Got Talent. From singing and dancing to musical performances, we were blown away by the talents and the courage our students displayed. Congratulations to our winners, and kudos to every single performer, you made us proud!

Today, we concluded the week with the most vibrant event of this summer, Songkran Festival 2025! Thank you, all parents, for joining us at the merit-making ceremony, a meaningful way to start the day. Our students enjoyed a wide variety of activities, from the Giant Water Play to engaging cultural workshops like Thai dessert making, flower garland crafting, and clay play. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience and appreciate the beauty of Thai culture in a fun way. We’re already excited for next year’s celebration!
(Please stay tuned for full photo album.)

As we wrap up this week, we wish everyone a joyful and refreshing Thai New Year. May this holiday bring quality time with your loved ones. We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Warm regards,
BASIS International School Bangkok

Reminder: Importance of Attendance and Adherence to the School Calendar
Dear Parents
We would like to remind all families of the importance of student attendance and adherence to the school calendar.
While we understand the significance of family time, we kindly request that all holiday plans be scheduled within the school breaks. Extending beyond these periods may impact your child’s academic progress, classroom continuity, and overall learning experience.
Regular attendance plays an important role in maintaining academic consistency and fostering responsibility. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that students are present and engaged throughout the school year.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Best regards,
BASIS International School Bangkok

Happy Songkran Break! 🌸💦
Wishing all our families a joyful and refreshing Songkran! May this special time bring happiness, renewal, and meaningful moments with loved ones.
As we enjoy the week-long holiday, we also look ahead to Earth Day on April 22. This is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to reflect on the importance of caring for our planet. Here are a few simple ways to honor Earth Day during the school holiday:
🌱 Plant something together – Whether it’s a tree, flowers, or herbs, gardening is a great way to connect with nature.
🛍️ Go plastic-free for a day – Challenge your family to avoid single-use plastics and use reusable items instead.
🚲 Choose eco-friendly travel – Walk, bike, or take public transportation when exploring during the holiday.
📚 Learn together – Watch a documentary or read a book about the environment as a family.
We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing break and returns ready to continue learning and making a positive impact on our world.
Happy Songkran and Happy Earth Day! 🌏💚
Sincerely,
Ms. Annie

Dear Primary and Upper School Parents,
We wish you and your families a lovely Songkran Holiday.
Health and safety for our community is a priority. To ensure student safety during recess times, we would like to make a few changes to the use of sports equipment at school. Beginning Monday, April 21, the school will provide the following equipment for student use during school hours: basketballs, footballs, Ping-pong paddles and balls. Therefore, students should not bring these items to school.
Additionally, football cleats are only to be worn for Sports Academy and during PE lessons. The coaches will ensure that students change into their school shoes prior to returning to class. Cleats are not allowed during recess.
We greatly appreciate your support to ensure your child and their safety at school.

Dear Parents,
Trimester 3 Progress reports were sent home with your children on Thursday. Please take some time to review the report with your child and help them to set goals for the second half of the trimester. Please don’t hesitate to reach out your child’s SETs, LETs or Dean if you have concerns or queries about academic progress.
Have a restful and joyous Songkran break.

Message from Dean of Primary School
Dear Families,
I hope you have a wonderful Songkran celebration with your family and friends!
As we return from the break, we will be celebrating Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22nd. This will be the focus of our Primary assemblies. Primary teachers have already begun introducing Earth Day to the students through stories, poems, art, and other fun classroom activities.
Students will have the opportunity to share what they’ve learned about Earth Day with their classmates during the assembly. We look forward to sharing photos of their efforts in our next newsletter!
I am pleased to see that many of our students are working diligently to demonstrate our TUSKERS values and earn their badges. Throughout the year, we have explored each of these character traits during our monthly assemblies. Our final trait, EXCEPTIONAL, will be the focus in May as we close out the school year.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as your children grow and develop these important lifelong traits.
Have a lovely holiday!

Library Corner
Hello from BISB Library and Happy Songkran!
It has been a wonderful, joy-filled week in the library with our continuation of Earth Day celebrations! This week, in connection to the Songkran holiday, we focused on the importance of water and the dangers of water pollution. Students in Nursery and PK1 learned about the Songkran holiday and water play when we read, Chang’s First Songkran by Lisa Changadveja. For PK2 and Kinder, we focused on the water cycle with the story, Water is Water by Miranda Paul and Jason Chin, while Grades 1-5 discussed water pollution and environmental protections when we read The Caldecott Medal winning book, We Are Water Protectors, by Carole Lindstrom and Michaela Goade.
Additionally, also in celebration of Earth Day 2025, I wanted to invite students and parents to the library after school on Tuesday, April 22nd for an Earth Day story time, in collaboration with the Science Department! Join us for a story, learn about our schools’ eco-friendly initiatives and recycling program, and take part in a creative design challenge using only recycled materials. More information is provided on the flyer below. We hope to see you there!
Lastly, a reminder that the library is CLOSED for before/after school hours from Monday, April 28th to Wednesday, April 30th. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your understanding.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Songkran holiday!
Happy reading,
Ms. Erika
Librarian

Our Support for Earthquake Relief Efforts

Earthquake aftermath: The school has made a 30,000 THB donation to United K9 Team, a private citizens team of volunteers that work with K9 dogs. The group has 10 dogs that are active-duty.
The teams train and care for these dogs carefully as they are constantly in high alert and stressful situations, involving in rescue operation. They are trained to recognize and able to communicate when people are alive and need help VS bodies that need to be recovered.
The cost of training and provide caring for these dogs cost approximately 10,000-15,000 per month per dog. If you feel that this is a worthwhile effort and would like to donate toward these dogs, we invite you to get to know United K9 Team.
The team will be bringing rescue dogs to create awareness and show how these furry friends can help human right on our campus soon!!!
In addition, our Parent Association has extended their support by making a generous donation to the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under the Royal Patronage (มูลนิธิราชประชานุเคราะห์ ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์) to assist officers and personnel who are working tirelessly to help earthquake victims. Their contribution is a powerful reflection of our community’s spirit in times of need.
