Message from the School:
Dear BASIS Families,
Regarding the earthquake earlier today, we would like to report that all of our students and staff are safe. Our school promptly followed emergency protocols, evacuating to designated open areas, and a thorough inspection of the buildings confirmed that there was no structural damage. Please be assured that our campus is designed and built according to modern seismic standards to ensure the highest level of safety during such events.
Next Monday, our school is the proud host of the first-ever Thailand AP Symposium. The College Board has invited Thai university officials and secondary school leaders to join us for the discussion on local and global growth trends in the AP program and how it is recognized by universities around the world. As a school offering AP courses, we are excited to take this opportunity to showcase our commitment to academic excellence. We look forward to deepening our connections with universities and fellow educators, as well as exploring new ways to support our students through these rigorous academic pathways.
Looking ahead, we are excited to invite you to some upcoming events! On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, join us for the Parents VS Teachers Basketball Showdown Match starting at 5:00 PM at our sports field. Come and show your TUSKERS spirit!
On Friday, April 4, 2025, we cordially invite parents and students to the Primary Got Talent event, where our young performers will showcase their incredible talents. We hope to see you there to support these amazing students!
In the meantime, we encourage all families to stay informed and safe. Your safety continues to be our top priority, and we truly appreciate your ongoing support. Please continue to take care, and stay alert to any further updates.
Best regards,
BASIS International School Bangkok

Early Years Newsletter
Hello Early Years Families,
I want to take a moment to highlight the ongoing learning that your child’s teachers are engaging in. We have three teaching fellows currently pursuing advanced studies in education at St. John’s University and one lead teacher working toward an advanced degree at Morehouse University. Additionally, BASIS Early Years is part of the Bangkok Early Years Network, and this past weekend, three teachers and I attended workshops where we gained new insights and strategies to bring back to the rest of our Early Years team.
Our mission is to raise the standards of our students' learning to the highest international levels. We firmly believe in the expertise, dedication, and passion of our teachers, and we are committed to supporting their continuous professional growth. Ongoing education keeps us relevant, competitive, and prepared to provide the best learning experiences for your children.
I hope you enjoyed connecting with your teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Sitting down face-to-face allows us to collaborate and ensure the best possible learning environment for your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. Annie

Library Corner
Hello from BISB Library!
It has been a joy-filled week in the library. For primary, we concluded our author study with stories by English-author Claire Freedman. Students especially loved the story, Follow That Bear If You Dare! A tale about two bear-hunting rabbits looking to catch a bear – which isn’t a very good idea of course.
Additionally, in this month’s installment of Lunchtime Legends, some volunteer students in Grades 6 and 7 read to our primary students during lunchtime/recess. Students learned about British zoologists Joan Proctor, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, the Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson who serves on the U.S. Supreme Court, and the first woman to run the Boston Marathon, runner Bobbi Gibbs! It was wonderful to see our primary and secondary students connecting over a shared love of stories and their discovery of legendary women in history. I want to give a big thank you to this month readers: Rohan and Juno in 6Cu, Tiwat, Watong, Sean, and Niko in 6Fe, and Circe and Thichar in 7Ga! They all received 50 house points and our primary students loved meeting and hearing from them. I look forward to next month’s installment of Lunchtime Legends!
Lastly, The Lotus Pond, our school’s literary magazine, is still accepting submissions until May 2nd, 2025. Please feel free to email me at e.wigren@basis.ac.th with any questions or with submissions.
Happy reading,
Ms. Erika
