Early Years Newsletter
Dear Parents,
It has been another wonderful week of joyful learning in Early Years!
The kindergarteners are beginning their study of the life cycle of plants. PK2 is learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. PK1 has moved up to mastering the teen numbers and Nursery had a disco party complete with their handcrafted guitars and some fantastic dance moves. Keep up the strong conversations and role modeling of how to be a lifelong learner. It is working!
If your child has a metal water bottle I would like to request that it be replaced with plastic. The metal bottles are heavy and make a lot of noise when they fall. Your child drinks a lot of water and they carry the bottles with them to the canteen and to PE. You can imagine the cacophony of sound when our not quite adept students are dropping their bottles on their feet and the stairs.
Warmly,
Ms. Annie

Parent/Teacher Conferences
As we begin Term 3 of the Academic Year 2024-2025, we offer many opportunities for continued communication between school and families. Reporting of student progress occurs through Term Report Cards, Conferences, SERs (G1-4), and daily conversations. This ongoing communication positively impacts student achievement and well-being as we work together to support your child in their education.
If you would like an opportunity to speak with your child’s teacher regarding student progress and achievement, please contact your child’s teacher directly through email to set up an appointment. Teachers are happy to accommodate meetings around their lesson schedule. Meetings will be scheduled at 15 to 20 intervals in order to accommodate as many families as possible. Please indicate to the teacher if a translator is needed for Thai or Mandarin.
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning.
Ms. Allison
Director of Primary and Upper School
Library Corner
Hello from BISB Library!
This week in the library we began our discussion of authors and illustrators with both Early Years and Primary students. This serves as preparation for Bookweek and for our visiting authors later this month! This week we focused on Canadian illustrator, Jon Klassen, and his very funny story titled We Found A Hat. Students loved this simple story and the problem faced by the two main characters.
Secondly, I am so excited to announce the events and planning for Bookweek 2025 on March 17th– 21st! There are a variety of activities happening throughout the week including author visits, a book fair with Kinokuniya and Asia Books, a Creative Storytelling Showcase, and in Bookweek tradition, a Spirit Week! You can find a full breakdown of the events and spirit week in the flyers below. Please email me anytime with questions or concerns.
If you would like to pre-order or purchase a signed book from our Early Years visiting author, Nawal Kalra, please find the attached flyer below as well and email me directly for purchasing information. All books will be available for purchase/pick up on the day of her visit. Our other author for Primary students, Jan Urupongsa, will have a table with Barefoot Banana Publishing House during the book fair on Thursday, March 20th.
Lastly, please note that the library will be CLOSED on Friday, March 14th as I will be away to oversee and support our students competing in the 2025 Kids Lit Quiz book trivia competition at Harrow International School. Thank you for your understanding and for your support of our TUSKERS!
Happy reading,
Ms. Erika
Librarian
