Message from the School:
Dear BASIS Families,
We hope you’re having a wonderful winter break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, January 13th, 2025.
Our faculty and staff have been working diligently to prepare for an enriching second semester, full of learning and exciting opportunities for our TUSKERS. We are excited to continue this journey and look forward to a rewarding semester ahead.
Even during the winter holidays, our facility team is hard at work:
- Ongoing work for the third-floor academic building, including insulation, base wall systems, and air conditioning updates over these three weeks.
- New shades will soon be added to the early year's outdoor play area.
We plan our improvements and additions to maximize the quality of learning while minimizing disruption to our students and teachers. We strive to maintain high international standards with the end goal being a safe and effective learning environment. Our green initiatives include the use of non-toxic quality materials, double walls to reduce noise transfer while also conserving energy, and clean air provided by our "pre-cool fresh air" system. Each space is thoughtfully designed to be conducive to a healthy, sustainable learning environment, both inside and out.
Welcome to Our New Families!
We are thrilled to welcome new families to the BASIS International School Bangkok community! We are honored that you have chosen BASIS as your partner in your child’s education. Our team is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for your family and helping you feel at home in our vibrant school community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or to learn more about upcoming events.
Preparatory Week Before Precomp Review Week (Jan 21–30):
As we begin the second semester, the week following the winter holiday is critical to helping our students settle back into the school rhythm. This preparatory week will ensure that students are ready for the Precomp Review Week scheduled from January 21–30. We encourage all families to avoid extending their holidays or scheduling additional days off during this important week, as doing so may affect students’ ability to catch up and adjust to the demands of the semester.
Our teachers are prepared to guide students as they re-engage with their studies, reinforcing routines and building momentum for academic success. Let’s work together to make this transition as seamless and productive as possible for all our students.
To kick off the new semester, we invite you to join us for the ECA Fair on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 PM. The ECA is a wonderful way for students to connect, create, and grow beyond the classroom. We encourage all families to come and explore the diverse options available, from sports and arts to academic clubs.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you back on campus soon!
Warm regards,
BASIS International School Bangkok

Clarification on Student Accident Insurance Coverage
Dear Parents,
We would like to share some important reminders with you. As our school continues to grow and offer a wide variety of opportunities for our community to come together, we would like to provide some clarification about the student accident insurance coverage offered by the school.
The school accident insurance is designed to cover accidents that occur within school grounds during normal operating hours when students are under the supervision of school personnel. This includes official learning time, ECAs, clubs, and sports academies, unless otherwise specified during consent processes. Please note, the maximum coverage is 20,000 THB per incident.
Once parents pick up their children, responsibility transitions back to the parents. For instance, if parents and children use school facilities like playgrounds or participate in events after pick-up, the school insurance does not extend to those circumstances.
While we are thrilled to host family-friendly events and foster a sense of community, we also recognize the importance of shared responsibility for safety. The school insurance policy is designed to provide essential support, and we kindly ask for everyone’s cooperation in ensuring it remains a valuable resource for our school community.
We encourage families to consider additional accident and health insurance to cover any risks beyond what the school can offer. This will ensure that your children are well-protected in all circumstances.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to create a safe, supportive environment for all.
Warm regards,
BASIS International School Bangkok

Message from Director of Primary and Upper School
Dear Primary and Upper School Families,
We extend a warm welcome back to school on January 13, 2025, as students continue their learning journey and strive towards achieving their goals and setting new ones. The start of the new year can be an excellent time for reflection and aiming high.
After a well-deserved break, students have established the foundations for the next steps in their learning. As BISB students embark on acquiring unmatched breadth and depth of knowledge and critical thinking skills from the BASIS curriculum, we continue to foster student self-advocacy skills. Students are encouraged to reflect on their learning by asking themselves questions: “What have I learned today?” “What don’t I yet understand”? “What questions do I have now?” These steps will lead students to a deeper understanding of how they can become more efficient and effective learners. This mindfulness can be applied during lessons, during interventions and during Student Hours. Your child’s teachers encourage questions from students to ensure conceptual understanding and to clarify misconceptions.
Student Hours will resume on January 20, 2025.
Students from Grades 1 to 10 are practicing and mastering self-management skills daily. Your child’s LET and SET provide your child support in their organizational and affective skills. The following are strategies your child can apply to manage their time and tasks effectively.
- Using the CJ, record short- and long-term assignments to meet deadlines.
- Create plans and implement study skills to prepare for summative assessments.
- Set goals that are challenging and realistic.
- Create strategies and take action to achieve personal and academic goals.
- Bring the necessary equipment and supplies to class.
- Keep an organized and logical system of information in folders and notebooks.
- Use appropriate strategies for organizing complex information, ie. Notetaking
- Use technology effectively, productively and appropriately.
We value the well-being of our students and work as a team to provide the necessary support as students learn to manage their own state of mind through Mindfulness, Perseverance, Emotional management, Self-motivation and Resilience. Academic achievement is reliant on positive well-being and we appreciate your collaboration as we care for the whole child and their learning.
Sincerely,
Ms. Allison Donohue
Director of Primary and Upper School
