TUSKERS of the week
Message from Head of School & Head of Operations:
Dear TUSKERS families,
What a fantastic start to the week with our Literacy Day. We had an exciting “Runway Through the Pages” fashion show, mystery readers, storytelling session, and creative craft-making activities in the library. These activities have truly brought the joy of reading to life. A big thank you to Ms. Erika and the faculty team for organizing such a memorable event!
Yesterday we have sent off our Middle School students for Residential Trip to Rayong. Below is the teaser pictures of their first day and more pictures to come next week after the trip.
Following to this, we cordially invite all parents to our Library Coffee Morning Sessions on September 10th and 11th. This is a great opportunity to meet Ms. Erika, our Librarian and gain valuable tips on supporting your child’s reading development. For more details, please refer to the Library Corner below.
A quick reminder: Our Extracurricular Activities (ECA) will begin next week on Monday, September 9th, 2024. Kindly make necessary arrangements for timely pick-up and it will be at the main gate of Primary of all grade levels (including Early Years)
Wishing you all with delightful weekend filled with learning and creativity.
Best regards,
Dr. W and Ms. Kwan

Interest Survey for School Bus Service:
Dear BASIS Parents,
Thank you to the parents who have shown interest in our School Bus service. So far, only two families have expressed interest in this. However, we would like to offer one last opportunity to see if we can arrange the school bus routing for families living in the same area who may benefit from this service. If you are interested, please fill out the form and submit it to us by Monday, September 30th, 2024.
Please submit the form or if you have any further inquiries, feel free to reach out to us at communication@basis.ac.th
Sincerely,
School Management
ECA Corner:
Dear TUSKERS Families,
We are delighted to welcome you and your children to the first week of our exciting Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) program from Monday, September 9 until Friday, December 13, 2024. We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom, and ECAs provide a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their passions, sharpen skills, and build friendships. We are confident this will be a fun and enriching experience for all!
We encourage you to support and cheer on your children as they embark on this journey of exploration and growth. Please find the ECA schedule and ECA calendar attached below, and we look forward to meeting you during the parental observation week.
Please note that the ECA dismissal is at the main gate of Primary of all grade levels, including Early Years.
Thank you for your continuous support.
ECA Team.
Message from Director of Academic Programs:
Dear parents,
Many exciting things going on at school during the beginning of the school year. Regarding academics, there are 2 upcoming things to be aware of.
First, syllabi are coming home this week! Thanks for your patience, we were working closely with the teachers to ensure you get the most useful information possible. To access the syllabi, simply click into your child's class. We have provided access to other subjects as well, should you have some curiosity or interest. If you have any questions about the syllabi, feel free to reach out to myself or directly to the teacher(s).
Academic Year 2024-2025 Syllabi
Here are a couple of tips for reviewing the syllabi:
- Parent hours are shown on each syllabus to indicate how and when you can meet the teachers (you can always email as well). Teachers enjoy hearing from you, and keeping open communication is important. Teachers will normally respond to emails received between Monday to Friday, during working time, within 24 hours.
- Unit outlines: This is where you'll see the broad scope of content that will be covered in class. This is also a useful reference when working with the CJs.
Secondly, progress reports will be sent out on September 20th. This will be our first look into the study progress of the students. We will be reaching out to you if we identify any trends that need attention and support, but please also feel free to reach out to the teacher (or to us) if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ian
Director of Academic Programs
Early Years Newsletter:
Hello Families,
Great job on participating during our first dress up day of the school year. The next one is Halloween, October 31. I know some people plan way ahead so please note, no weapons or bloody gore are allowed as part of a costume.
Now that things are settling into a routine, I am able to spend more time in each classroom and have begun conducting teacher observations. It is important that I witness what is happening both instructionally and procedurally in the classroom settings.
I'm excited to see your children's activities in the ECAs starting next Monday. I expect our dismissal crowd to be a bit smaller. Thank you all for your cooperation during these first weeks of school. Considering that we've been dismissing approximately 200 students in just 20 minutes, I'd say we're doing a great job working together!
Thank you,
Ms. Annie Fletcher

Message from Director of Primary & Upper School
Dear Families of Primary and Upper School,
As we finish the 4th week of the academic year, the teaching and learning at BASIS Bangkok is thriving. Students are fully engaged in their learning as they broaden their knowledge and understanding of concepts. They are taking on new responsibilities and learning new skills in all disciplines. Students are rising to the occasion as teachers deliver the rigorous BASIS curriculum and hold high expectations, while ensuring that the learning environment is joyful and meaningful.
At the heart of the learning process are our very professional expert teachers. I will be spending more time in the classrooms now with the teachers to foster the BISB vision of instructional excellence and mission to raise the standards of our students’ learning to the highest international levels. These observations will also guide the school in designing professional development and training exercises to inform teacher coaching and support-strategies.
Ms. Allison
Director of Primary & Upper School

Library Corner:
Hello from BISB Library!
I wanted to thank all of the amazing parents in our community for encouraging and dressing up your students for Literacy Day 2024! We had an array of original, creative costumes and all of our students looked amazing walking that runway. Additionally, thank you to all of those who attended the after school storytime and craft – and for encouraging your student’s love of reading.
The whole day was filled with joy and silliness, and we have a ton of photos to send your way of the Runway Through the Pages Fashion Show (please refer to the drive folder at the end of this newsletter). So many students took to the stage and embraced the runway, earning house points along the way. You should all be so proud of their confidence and school spirit. Thank you for supporting a wonderful day.
Additionally, I wanted to send a reminder to please attend my library coffee mornings next week on Tuesday, September 10th for Primary, and Wednesday, September 11th for Early Years. I will discuss library events, book care, reading goals, and at home strategies you can use to help your TUSKERS grow their love of reading and literacy skills throughout the year.
I look forward to seeing you in the library again soon.
Ms. Erika
Librarian
Well-being Corner:
Dear TUSKERS Families,
It is with immense excitement that we announce our upcoming "Parents Series," an engaging and comprehensive program designed to address a myriad of topics pertinent to parents throughout their journey. This event will be hosted in the Black Box, featuring Ms. Ked, Dr. Golf, and a distinguished guest host for our final session.
For those who had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Golf at last year’s event, we are delighted to share that this year, she will be collaborating with Ms. Ked, our new school counselor. Ms. Ked, a certified marriage and family therapist with a specialization in relational therapy, brings a wealth of expertise and a unique perspective, drawing from her dual citizenship in Canada and Thailand. Her dedication to raising awareness about mental health is truly inspiring.
Our series will commence in September with a compelling session on "Effective Communication with Teens," followed by a diverse range of topics each month. Please refer to the attached poster for a detailed schedule of this year’s topics.
We eagerly anticipate your participation and look forward to seeing you there!
