Our Week in Pictures!
Message from the Head of School
Dear Mommies and Daddies,
Covid cases appear to be on the rise in Bangkok again... Please do take care and be cautious about where you go etcetera. This week we saw three classes impacted – our most affected week... There is talk of more stringent rules returning – so, again, please do take care and minimise the risk of being infected.
If you have any doubts about the 'high-risk' categorization for folk who have been around a Covid sufferer, reach out to us as it would be our pleasure to explain the criteria.
We saw the return of swimming and napping for the babes in school this week. Great to see a semblance of ‘normal school’ returning – let's help keep it this way!
Naptime babes – please ensure bedding is washed one per week – and please ensure the bedding measures less than 75cm x 125cm!
We have an Open House on Saturday – this is dedicated to Early Years as the interest in this part of the school has been so great.
Next year we open our Nursery! This will allow two-year-olds to come to school in the nearish future. If you are contemplating this, be aware that places are very limited!
There were two cases of Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) in school this week. This is a very contagious infection of the eyes. If you notice any symptoms, please keep your babe at home and get medical advice.
We will have a Grade 6 and 7 parents' coffee morning on the morning of March 8. Whilst I sincerely look forward to chatting with moms and dads, we have arranged for a child psychologist to also be there to talk about the tricky journey for children into adolescence. There will be parenting tips from a professional – very valuable for the moms and dads of this age group!
ECAs begin next week. Whilst we had a good general offer, sadly, the take-up rate has been insufficient for some of the clubs to run. In consequence, we have worked with the providers in an attempt to join some clubs together to make up the numbers and ensure the ECA is viable. Please do examine any communications on this theme to verify the appropriate ECA day your child may be involved in a specific activity as the initial schedule sent has been changed.
When your babe asks for help with something – or asks you to intercede... Maybe pause before you step in? This is a little way to encourage children to be both independent and more able problem-solvers – good that they realise some things in life are not easy and challenges can actually be rewarding!
Regards,
Alan.
Re-Enrollment for the 2022-2023 Academic Year
It's time for enrollment for the 2022-2023 academic year! Re-enrollment forms can be found at this link, and are due back on Friday 25th March 2022. Invoices will be sent home beginning on Friday, 1st April and payment of the deposit is due by Friday, 29th April. The deposit will be applied to the first semester's tuition fees.
If you pre-paid 2022-2023 tuition fees, you will NOT need to submit the form. Please be sure to submit your Re-Enrollment online, as we are unable to hold a space for your child without it, and we look forward to your return!
Message from the Nurse's Office
Dear Parents,
I am sorry to share that we are seeing Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) amongst some of our children! This is a very infectious bacterial condition that makes eyes both red and very sore.
If you see any sign of it with your own child - redness in one or both eyes, itchiness in one or both eyes, a gritty feeling in one or both eyes, discharge in one or both eyes that forms a crust during the night that may prevent your eye or eyes from opening in the morning - please do keep them home and seek medical advice.
PK1 and PK2 Naptime Reminder
We are asking parents to re-check the size of their nap set to ensure it is suitable for the school’s provided nap cushion (Size 75 x 125cm). The nap set should not be larger (when unfolded) than the nap cushion, for hygiene purposes.
The nap set should consist of a sleeping pad, a small blanket and a small pillow and should be easy to both fold and unfold, and not too bulky to pack away. The set must have an appropriately sized storage bag so that it can be stored properly during the week. It should also be washable and bedding materials must be washed weekly.
The school also has some top-quality nap sets for sale!. These have been specially designed for BASIS by “A Little Barefoot” brand. The sleeping pad comes with an easy pull-out sheet feature for washing with an attached soft blanket and pillow to make napping easy and comfortable - and is also easily packed away! Made from organic cotton – we invite you to come look at this product in the school’s reception!
ECA's Begin on Monday!
Please be reminded that ECA's will run from February 28th to June 11th. Please ensure that you pick up your child at the correct time for each activity. Thanks!
Coffee Morning for G6 and G7 Parents - Tuesday, March 8 at 8:15 AM
As noted in Alan's message, this special coffee morning session will feature a child psychologist specializing in the transition from early adolesence to teenage years, and all of the challenges and changes our students are facing as a result.
