Important Reminder:
Dear parents,
Ensuring regular attendance is essential for maintaining the continuity of lessons, learning, and academic planning. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their child attends all scheduled school days.
While we understand the importance of family holidays as opportunities for togetherness, we kindly request that parents plan their holiday activities with reference to the academic calendar provided by the school.
In the event that a child is unable to attend school due to illness, participation in competitions, or other circumstances, we ask that parents adhere to the absent protocol and communicate with the school accordingly.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a conducive learning environment for all students.
Dr. W
Head of School
Message from Head of School & Head of Operations:
Dear TUSKERS families,
Welcome back! We believe everyone had a fantastic break and returned feeling recharged.
Earlier this week, we celebrated Earth Day as a reminder of our commitment to protect our earth. Our Early Years teachers had been guiding our tiny TUSKERS to embrace and engage in many hands-on activities to save our world.
We concluded the week with the amazing Primary School BASIS Got Talent. It was truly inspiring to witness our wonderful TUSKERS dedicated to pursuing their passion and talents. Congratulations to the winners and thank you teachers and staff for making this an exceptional platform for our students to showcase their talents.
A gentle reminder for all grades parents to join us for the Expert Talk about ‘Screening Device & Media’ with Dr. Kulnida Temchavala (Dr. Golf) on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, from 08:30-10:00 A.M. at the Blackbox.
Lastly, we encourage everyone to come support our football players in the U9 Mixed and U11 Boy Football Friendly Match with Australian International School Bangkok, Raffles American School Bangkok and Anglo Singapore International School at our campus tomorrow, Saturday, April 27th. The matches will kick off from 08:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Best regards,
Dr. W and Ms. Kwan

Early Years Newsletter
Hello Early Years Families,
Welcome back from Songkran Break! Your children have been filling me in on their escapades of the week. It is wonderful to hear how articulate they are as they speak and describe their experiences in English.
This week we celebrated Earth Day with music, the primary and middle school choirs sang for our Morning Circle, we planted in our garden and continued our environmental studies in World Discovery lessons. We teach to instill respect and care for the planet we live on.

Director of Early Years
Primary, Middle & High School Newsletter
Dear BISB Parents,
We hope you had a restful and joyful Songkran break. Now that we have arrived at the final 2 months of the school year, we would like to remind you of the following school policies and norms.
Snacks on campus – Once again, for hygiene and safety reasons, please do not allow you child to bring their own snacks to school. Snacks are provided by the school during breaktime and for late-bird students. The only exceptions to this are by written request, for example for a student’s birthday, in which case please contact your child’s LET (primary) or Dean (upper-school).
Smart Watches – Smart watches are not allowed on campus for any reason because of the security and privacy risks they present. If your child is using a smart watch to monitor their own health and daily steps, please purchase a dedicated pedometer instead.

Dean of Primary and Dean of Upper School
Message from the Director of Academic Programs
Dear Primary & Upper School Families,
Today, your child received their Trimester 3 Progress Reports. Progress Reports represent a grade update halfway through the grading period, and are an important way for parents to track the academic growth and achievement of their students. Please be sure to contact your child's teacher should you have any questions or concerns.
As we approach the end of the academic year, this is a busy time for our middle school students as they prepare for the Comprehensive Examinations in June. To assist in preparation for these exams, the academic team would like you to be aware of some upcoming programming in Academic Enrichment designed to support our students over the next six weeks.
- Each day at the beginning of AE, middle school students will complete a number of mathematics review problems with their math teacher. This is expected to take around 10 - 15 minutes per day.
- Twice weekly, our math and English teachers will hold dedicated review sessions for the rest of the AE period following the math problem session. These review workshops are open to all students, but math & English teachers will identify students for which attendance will be mandatory, dependent on recent academic performance.
It is our intention for our middle school students to go into the Comprehensive Exam period well-prepared, and we will continue to communicate with families as we approach this important milestone.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mr. Josh

🐦 Bird Beak Lab 🐣
Our Grade 5 students recently took flight into the fascinating world of evolution and adaptation with a hands-on lab exploring bird beaks. 🔎 By using different tools to represent various beak types, the young scientists discovered how beaks have evolved over time to help birds feed on specific foods in their environments.
⚗️ Through this engaging activity, our fifth graders gained deeper insights into the principles of adaptation by natural selection - a core concept in the study of evolution. 🌳 By understanding how bird beaks have been shaped by environmental pressures over generations, they developed an appreciation for the remarkable ways in which life on Earth continues to change and thrive. 🦋
Community News
As part of our TREES Project (Trash Repurposing Environmental ExperimentS), we installed a prototype of “Beverage Trash Sorting Station” at the cafe.
This will allow for separation of liquid, non-recycle waste such as straws, and recycleable waste such as plastic cups. Both type of cups on our campus can be accepted at this station. We hope to improve on the design and have more sorting stations available in the future.
At BASIS, we are currently redirecting around 65% of our solid waste through recycling, reusing and repurposing. We aim to increase this number continuously and this is one of our approaches. As a student or a parent, you can participate by helping us sort trash on campus and getting more solid waste away from landfills.
And don’t forget about our milk carton donation program where we contribute to repurposing the material into building materials, supporting new homes for the homeless.
