Message from Head of School & Head of Operations:
Dear TUSKERS families,
We have wrapped up another wonderful week before heading to our Songkran Break!
This week our Grade 9 students have successfully completed their AP World and AP Physics mock exams. This is a significant milestone in their preparation for the upcoming AP exams in May. Let’s applaud our Grade 9 students for their dedication and hard work.
The highlight of this week was our Songkran Festival, filled with vibrant activities to celebrate Thai culture. We thank all community who joined us for the Merit Making Ceremony and Thai department and administration for making this event possible.
Lastly, our Parent Association made a visit to the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand earlier this week to handover the proceeds from a bake sale held at our school a few months ago. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Parent Association and the generous donors of this charity event. Your contributions have exemplified the compassion and generosity within our community.
We wish everyone a happy and healthy Songkran Festival. Have a great long holiday and see you back on campus on April 22nd, 2024.
Best regards,
Dr. W and Ms. Kwan

Library Corner
Hello from BISB Library!
Did you know that April is National Poetry Month in the U.S.? Poetry is an important form of literature that helps us express feelings and ideas through figurative language and rhythm.
To celebrate Poetry Month, the library paired up with our English department to create Blackout Poetry with Grade 4 students. Blackout poetry is a unique form dating back to the 18th century. It involves taking an already written text, like a page in a book or newspaper, and creating new meaning using selected words. Our grade 4 students had a wonderful time making unique works of art – and did an amazing job!
These student poems will be displayed in the Connections space after the Songkran holiday. Additionally, students can submit this work to BISB’s literary magazine, The Lotus Pond for publication.
In other library news, BISB Book Club is excited to announce its special visiting author event. Join us in the Library before school on Wednesday, May 15th from 7:10 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. for a virtual book discussion and Q&A with author Misa Sugiura – author of Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind, Momo Arashima Breaks the Mirror of the Sun, and It’s Not Like It’s a Secret. The Library will open at 7:00 a.m. for attendees to arrive.
This event is open to non-book club members. Any student in Grade 4 and up is welcome to attend, in addition to parents and teachers. This free event is registration only to verify the number of attendees, so please register here to reserve a seat! All BISB Book Club members are automatically registered. Registration link: https://forms.gle/NBAfhcxjkrQnHi1o9
Haven’t read Misa Sugiura’s work? No problem, stop by the library to checkout one of her novels as we have them all! Please feel free to email Ms. Erika if you have any questions regarding this event.
I hope you all have a wonderful Songkran holiday!
Happy reading,
Ms. Erika
Librarian
